The Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce announces a new series in 2011 called “The Journey,” hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael Gartner. The Des Moines Downtown Chamber focuses on making connections that count and The Journey will make the ultimate connection that binds us all, the human spirit.
The Journey will share the stories of Des Moines’ most fascinating professionals in a one-hour, one-on-one interview. The Journey will profile the stories of;
• Suku Radia, President and CEO – Bankers Trust (Thurs., January 27th)
• Laura Hollingsworth, Pres. & Publisher – Des Moines Register (Tues., April 12th)
• David Maxwell, President – Drake University (Thurs., August 18th)
• Mary O’Keefe, Senior VP & Chief Marketing Officer – The Principal Financial Group (Tues., November 8th)
Interviewing our profile participants will be Michael Gartner. Gartner is a third-generation Iowa newspaperman and 1997 Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer who has held such positions as Page One Editor of The Wall Street Journal. Executive Editor, President, and COO of the Des Moines Register. News Executive of USA TODAY. President of NBC News. Chairman, and Co-owner of The Daily Tribune in Ames. Currently Gartner is the Chairman and Co-owner of the Iowa Cubs and President of the Iowa Board of Regents, which governs the state universities.
The series will be held at the Principal Financial Group Auditorium at 711 High Street in Downtown Des Moines from 5:00 – 7:00PM.
